In Apalachee High School Shooting: 4 Dead, 30 Injured

A harrowing shooting incident has occurred at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. The report has revealed that so far, four people have lost their lives, and more than 30 people have been injured during the firing. Local law enforcement officials say that the investigation into the situation is still ongoing. 

So far, it has not been told how many people have been injured by firing and how many people have been killed. This is just an estimate and depends on the report that will come so far. The complete reports are still pending, which will tell you about the rest of the aspects. 

According to reports, one person has been arrested, who is of the age of a student.  But till now there is no clear news about whether he is enrolled in the school or not or if he has anything to do with it.  The investigation for this is still going on.

Following the incident, all schools within the Bureau County School System have been placed on lockdown. Police have been sent to other high schools to avoid further incidents. Fortunately, this kind of incident has not happened anywhere else. 

Helicopters have been called to help the seriously injured, and they are being shifted to safe places with their help. 

From the footage found outside the school, it has been seen that there are five ambulances inside the school and a heavy police force has been deployed. In the footage, it appears that a patient is being taken to the hospital by helicopter and people are gathering at the football ground near the school. The students and other people are praying that there is no news of such incidents. 

Bureau County Sheriff Jud Smith told reporters at the scene that several people were injured and declined to give a death toll.  He urged people to be patient and have courage and said that they should only pray better. 

Smith said authorities received a call at 9:30 a.m. informing them of a shooter. 

 

A spokeswoman for Grady Health System, a Level One trauma center in Atlanta, about an hour away from Wonder, confirmed to CNN that the hospital received one gunshot wound from the incident and was transported by helicopter.

 

  • According to a spokesperson of the bureau, special agents of the FBI have reached to help the local authorities.

 

Apalachee High School is a part of the Barrow County system. The district summarized to CNN that students have been ordered to leave, and their parents have been contacted to pick up their children.  Moreover, if anything is required, it will also be provided.

Georgia President Brian Kemp has announced on social media that all available state resources have been urged to arrive at the scene to assist. He has also emphasized that all the people of Georgia should join me in praying for the safety of all the people living in the state.  

 

According to the US Census Bureau, Winder had a population of about 18,338 as of the 2020 census. The Barrow County School System, which ranks as the 24th largest school district in the state, serves approximately 15,340 students. Apalachee High School alone has an enrollment of 1,932 students, according to the district’s website.
